Week 5: Spooky Season

October 31, 2016

Did you know, burglaries and domestic damage increase by 160% during the Halloween period, with Bonfire Night being the statistically worst night of the year for burglaries and car theft? With this is mind, the final week of National Home Security Month looks at securing your home this spooky season.

Top tips to beat the masked monsters:

– Ensure you lock your doors and windows when going out for the evening. As apparent as it may seem, a startling 20% of us admit to leaving our front doors unlocked and vulnerable to theft.

– To prevent any unsolicited ‘tricks’, invest in a letterplate restrictor to stop thieves from shing keys through your letterplate or accessing your door lock.

– If you don’t want to be disturbed at all over the Halloween period, display a preventative
‘No Trick or Treaters’ sign on your front door (available from most local police constabularies).
