Week 3: Smart Home Security

With the rise of the automated home and all things smart, week three of NHSM is focusing on exploring the advances in smart home security, looking at the latest security gadgets available to protect your home.

Top tips for smart home security:

– 6,000 burglaries happened last year using spare keys. Invest in a smart lock that allows you secure access via PIN code, key card, key-tag, remote fob, or smartphone. You can even keep track of who comes and goes through your front door when the lock is connected to a smart hub system.

– Integrated alarm systems now have the capability to send noti cations, emails and images to a smartphone when triggered, to instantly alert you to a potential intruder.

– For peace of mind, CCTV systems allow remote viewing of your property from any location using a smartphone app. Recorded footage can also be saved on a computer and used as police evidence in the event of a break-in.

– Invest in a Digital Door Viewer to see who is at your door before opening it, and signi cantly reduce your chances of falling victim to a distraction burglary.
