Keep your home monitored with National Home Security Month

UK residents are being urged to keep a close check on their homes and would-be thieves as part of National Home Security Month (NHSM), a five-week campaign helping to protect the nation’s homes, families and property.

The theme for Week Three (w/c October 19) of the annual initiative is ‘You call it home, we keep it monitored’.

Research shows that CCTV is the biggest deterrent for intruders1. However, despite this, only 14 per cent of UK adults say that they have cameras installed at home. Also, according to a Which? survey of 100 ex-convicts, a whopping 71% are put off by having a visual siren, such as the iconic yellow Yale bell box, on display2

In response, throughout week three, NHSM will give you the low down on how you can use alarms and CCTV to help keep an eye on your home – no matter where you are.

Launched in 2013 and backed by high-profile supporters, including lead sponsor Yale, NHSM provides advice and information on how UK residents can keep their homes, possessions and loved ones safe as the dark nights draw in.

The theme for this year’s campaign, which runs throughout October, is ‘You call it home, we keep it secure’, encouraging homeowners to use trusted security products that meet the latest standards.
